Newsletter #9 November / December 2006
Newsletter November/ December 2006
Snow in Buffalo,- what a wake up. Winter is
coming in big steps after letting us enjoy the long never--ending warmth and
sunshine of a wonderful summer.
Realizing it is only 9 weeks to Christmas, I got
my knitting and crochet pattern out and started planning what my loved ones
would enjoy as stocking stuffers and Christmas gifts.
Socks out of the Regia sock yarn and the Supersocke with mittens for my sons are the one thing I know they will enjoy wearing the cool winter months. The Barton Bag in Noro's Unlimited is the perfect gift for two of my nieces with matching pullovers or may be a bolero jacket - I will decide while the work is in progress.
For friends a selection of little hand bags like
the "
Zodiak bag" , mittens - like the wonderful "
Monkton Mittens out of Noro yarn", scarves, socks -
check out the "Saxon
Socks in Unlimited", and hats and caps are always handy as
stocking stuffers, check out the "Eternal"
book by Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton and
Noro's " Volume 20" for awesome designs. For close
friends felted bags, leg warmers and shawls like the "Brilliant
shawl" make fabulous gifts.
My husband needs a new ski sweater and grandpa a
warm cuddly sweater for those cold evenings.
For my beloved sister the gorgeous Giotto which I am using to make a short jacket with matching top.
My..my... looking through these books and
pattern surely lets time fly by and the list of what I would like to do gets
longer and longer.
Our website designer would appreciate your help
with input on " how make the website better and easier to surf".
Please keep in mind if you have problems ordering online - it is usually due to security on your computer ( virus program or firewall - or both) and our security on our website. Both are very good, but can conflict with each other. There is not really a way around that other than taken the security down and that wouldn't be good on either ends). Please call in your order if you have any problems. Toll Free 1 888 408 3777. We love to talk to you. Our office hours are on pacific time ( 3 hrs behind (later) New York time).
Do you know:
Definition of Knitting : Knitting is the art of using yarn or thread to make fabric from interlocking loops.
History of Knitting:
Its origin has been traced as far back as the fourth or fifth century B.C. In the past, knitting has been the occupation of shepherds watching their flocks, sailors whiling away the hours of long voyages, apprentices who studied it in early knitting guilds, and royal knitters in the court of England at the time of King Henry VIII. - Well that makes me surely feel good going to my knitting group every week. - Fact is as studies show: An item you make for someone else, in addition to being a beautiful garment, shows your love and appreciation for the recipient.
