Pantoufles; GarterStitch
Materials: Phentax 3ply two skeins for all sizes; one pair of 7mm needles
(USA 11)
Gauge/Tension: 10sts to 3ins in width and 14rows to 2ins in depth, measured over
the garter-st. worked on No 2 needles (USA 11) with double yarn (6-ply) or any
sizes that will give the correct tension.
Measurements: Length of sole of finishing slipper 7/8/9 ins.
To Make: Using double yarn (6-ply) cast on 23sts.
1st row: right side - sl 1 purlwise, k9, inc in next st, k1, inc in next st, k1
10.
2nd row: sl 1 purlwise, k8, p1, k5, p1, k9
3rd row: sl 1 purlwise, k9, inc in next st, k3, inc in next st, k10.
4th row: Sl 1 purlwise, k8, p1, k7, p1, k9.
5th row: Sl 1 purlwise, k9, inc in next st, k5, inc in next st, k10.
6th row: Sl 1 purlwise, k8, p1, k9, p1, k9
7th row: Sl 1 purlwise, k to end.
Rep the 6th and 7th row 17 (23/29) times more, then rep the 6th row again.
Now dec for toes as follows:
Next row: Right side- Sl 1 purlwise, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k5, k2tog, k4, k2tog,
k1.
Next row: Sl 1 purlwise, k6, p1, k7, p1, k7.
Next row: Sl 1 purlwise, k6, p1, k7, p1, k7.
Next row: Sl 1 purlwise, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1.
Next row: Sl 1 purlwise, k4, p1, k5, p1, k5.
Next row: Sl 1 purlwise, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k2tg, k1.
Break yarn leaving a long end; thread with darning needle and rin thro remaining
sts; draw up and fasten off with the same end; join front seam for 4 (4.5/ 4.5)
ins. Sew back seam. With a crochet hook make a short length of ch and form into
a bow to decorate top of each slipper.
