Crochet Beret

Head Size approx S = 8 1/4 " (M = 9 1/4" L = 10 ½ " )
Materials: 2 balls of Smart ( shown in color 4407)
Crochet Hook 4.0mm
Gauge: 9dc= 2inches, 7rnds = 3 inches

Crown: Chain 4. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
Rnd. 1: Ch 3, 13 dc in ring, join with a slip stitch to top of ch-3. 14 dc counting ch-3 a s 1 dc.
Rnd 2 : Ch 3, dc in same st with ch-3, 2dc in each st around. Join each rnd with a slip stitch (sl st) to top of ch-3 , 28 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2dc in next st, * dc in next st, 2dc in next st; rep from * around . 42dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, * dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, rep from * around. 56dc.
Rnd 5: Ch3, dc in each of next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, * dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st ; repeat from * around.
70dc.

Continued in this way to inc 14 sts every rnd, having 1 st more between incs each rnd until there are 8 (9,10)sts between incs.
Work 3 rnds even.

1^st dec Rnd: *Work 8 (9,10)sts, draw up a loop in each of the next 2 sts, yo (yarn over) and through 3 loops on hook ( 1 st dec); rep from * around. Join .
2^nd dec. Rnd: * Work 7 (8,9)sts, dec; rep from * around. Join.

Continue in this way to dec 14 sts every rnd, having 1 st less between decs each rnd until there are 6 sts between decs.
Headband: Work 6 rnds of one sc in each st. Join and fasten off.

Knitted Beret

Material 2 balls Smart
Size: S
Needles: 3.5 mm and 4.0 mm circular 40cm, ste of 4 needles 4.0mm and stitch markers
M1= Make one sts by knitting into front and back of next sts.
K2tog+ knit two sts together

Cast on 107sts with size 3.5mm. Join in rnd, place stitchmarker.
RS: K1, P1to end , repeat 3 more rounds.
Increase 3 sts ( M1) evenly across = 110
Change to larger needle:
1^st row:(RS) *K10, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
2^nd Row: Knit k sts and purl purl stitches.
3^rd Row: * K10, M1, P1; repeat from * to end of round
4^th Row: repeat row 2
5^th Row: *K11, M1, P1; repeat from * to end of row.
6^th Row: repeat row 2.

Continue increasing in this way until 170 sts are on your needle.
Knit 3 rows without increasing.
Next row: * K14, K2tog, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
Next row: K15, P1.

Change to set of four needles when circular needle doesn’t work for stitch amount anymore.
Repeat the last 2 rows until 10 sts remain on your needle.

Draw yarn through these and pull tight. Fast securely.
