Blossom Jacket with rolled collar Sizes S/M ( L/XL) Bust Sizes: 32/34 (38/40) Materials: 10(11) balls Blossom Needles: 35cm straight 5.0 and 5.5mm and circular 60cm 5.5mm, needle holder Gauge: 14sts - 10cm or 4" (19rows) Abbreviations: K2B - knit 2 together in the back of stitch (this changes the directions of the decrease) RS = Right side WS = wrong side M1 = make one stitch K2tog= knit 2 stitches together Back: With 5.0mm needles cast on 66 (84) sts(loosely). Work in K2, P2 rib for 3", ending on a RS row. Change to 5.5mm needles: Next row: Dec row: (K3, K2tog)- repeat to last 4sts - K4= 53 (68) sts. Work in st st for 1.5", ending on a WS. Side shaping: M1 at beginning and end of row . Repeat this increase row 4 times = 61 (76)sts. Continue until work measures 12" from cast on row- including ribbing. Shaping armhole: With RS facing, bind off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows 55 (70)sts. Continue shaping: *K1, K2tog - knit to the last 3sts. K2Btog., K1* Repeat last row 3 times. 49 (64)sts. Continue in stst until work measures 7". Place center 23 (24) sts on stitch holder and work each side separately for shoulder shaping. 13 (20)sts for each shoulder: bind off 5 (8)sts, 4 (6) sts, 4 (6) sts on each right side row on right side row from armhole: finishing at neck edge. Right Side: With 5.5mm needles cast on 16 (24)sts. Shaping the side as for the back; work in stst and cast on 2sts every WS row - 6 times = 28 (36) sts Continuing the side shaping as for back ; work the centeredge even until side seam matches back; ( from beginning of st st to armhole - not including the ribbing). Shaping armhole: Work as for back. When armhole measures 4" start neck shaping. Neck Shaping (Front) : Bind off 6sts for center. Dec 1 st at neck edge every alternate row - 6 times. Work even until armhole is 7" Cast off shoulder as for back. Left Side: Same as right side - with reverse shaping. Sleeves: With 5.5mm needles cast on 44sts; work in K2,P2 rib for 3" Next row: Dec K2, P2tog to the end of the row - 33sts Work even in stst for 8 (6)rows. Inc row: K1, M1 , knit to the last sts, M1, K1. Repeat this row every 8 (6) th row to 49(53)sts ( knit remaining rows).. Sleeve cap: Bind off 3sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows. Next row: K1, K2tog, work to the last 3 sts,-K2B, K1. Repeat on every RS row to 10sts. Bind off last 10sts. Front Rib Panels: Same for both sides- reverse the shaping. Pick up 84sts along center front shaping at the curve. Work these sts in K2,P2 rib; At the neck cast on 4sts on the first row and 3sts every row to 105sts. Work should measure 3" from pick up edge. Cowl neck: With 5.0mm circular needle pick up sts from back of neck 23 (24)sts, from shoulder shaping on each side of back (7sts each), from front through shaping and ribbed band, shaping band evenly (39sts) = 76( 77) sts. (For larger size only increase 7 sts evenly). Work in K2, P2 rib until collar measures 7". Bind off as ribbing. (Note: if you wish the collar to drape more, you will need to increase the number of stitches picked up across the front stitches only! But you will as well need an extra skein of yarn).
